SIPA Thesaurus

The main objective of the SIPA Thesaurus is to control the terminology used in the production, representation, search and exploration of content within the scope of the information system for Portuguese architectural, town planning and landscape heritage of Portuguese origin or influence, bearing in mind that this heritage, as an important component of the cultural treasure of a country, region or community, is a powerful factor in the social distinction and identification of individuals and populations, as well as an engine for the qualification and development of places and territories.
As such, this thesaurus fits in with SIPA's fundamental purpose: to be an information tool to support policies, strategies and actions for intervention in the built environment, urban qualification and rehabilitation, as well as a resource to assure the appreciation and safeguarding of architectural, urbanistic and landscape heritage.
