- Anglo-Norman, also known as Anglo-Norman French, is the name traditionally given to the dialect of the Old Norman language used in England, and to some extent elsewhere in the British Isles, during the Anglo-Norman period. This dialect is closely related to Old French and is sometimes referred to generically as simply French.
